Cody “Clix” Conrod is a 15-year-old American teenager who is also a Fortnite pro for Team NRG. Moreover, as is common these days, he is also Twitch streamer. With 2.1 million followers on Twitch and 1.08 million on YouTube, Clix is supposedly the highest-earning Fortnite pro at the moment. He is a teenage millionaire who has overtaken Tfue with his earnings.
In a recent live stream on Twitch, Clix came close to a mental breakdown. The glamor and flamboyance of the streamers often deceive the audience and shields them from certain harsh realities. In reality, ‘living the dream’ is not always as straightforward as it may sound. At least not in the case of Clix.
In the above clip, he speaks about the pressure he is constantly subjected to. Being one of the top players in the pro scene, everyone always expects him to perform. Personally, he feels a single bad performance would take away his shine. On top of that, he plays for an organization, which doubles his responsibility to be consistent.
While such pressure can drive people to greater heights, it can also be detrimental to their mental health.
Then comes the downsides of streaming. About a month ago, Clix was ‘swatted’ by his chat. ‘Swatting’ refers to sending cops at a popular streamer’s place as a prank. This prank has led to multiple deaths and mishaps, and it amounts to harassment. Clix has been swatted thrice already.
If you hear him talk in the above clip, it is pretty clear how harrowing the ordeals were for him and his family.

“How the f* are you sad? You are 15, a millionaire, and famous.”
Clix feels all the Fortnite fame is actually making him ‘unheard’. Clix sounds utterly depressed as the stream progresses. It is not easy to resonate with his exact feelings. But time and again he reminds us that money is not everything.
“It’s not about the money. It’s not about fame. You don’t know if anyone is your real friend and that sucks.”
Clix was also recently banned by his high school from returning. Here we have an individual who has it all but is desperately trying to be heard. At some point, this 15-year-old wants to be a normal teenager without so many responsibilities and pressure.
No doubt he is a Fortnite prodigy, but the community must not turn a deaf ear to this calling. “How the f* are you sad? You are 15, a millionaire, and famous.” These questions are not going to help anyone. Here’s wishing him all the very best ahead.
