John Fury was Against Tyson Fury Fighting Deontay Wilder and Anthony Joshua

Tyson Fury recorded one of the greatest comebacks in heavyweight boxing when he overcame his personal battles and laced up his boxing gloves in 2018.

Breaking a hiatus of three years, Fury competed thrice in 2018. Although Fury comfortably won his first two bouts, his third fight against Deontay Wilder ended in a draw.

 

Tyson Fury was brutally knocked down twice by Wilder in the fight. However, the British star got back on his feet before putting on a stellar performance. Unfortunately, neither man was awarded the victory. That said, Tyson Fury’s father did not want him to compete with Deontay Wilder in the first place.

John Fury gave Tyson Fury an ultimatum

John Fury disclosed that he was worried about his son before the Wilder fight. On Gold Star Promotions UK Tour, John said:

“He (Tyson) said, ‘Dad, these two are going [to and fro] all day long. I’m going to step up to the plate and I’ll fight Wilder.’ “

Despite notching two wins before facing Wilder, Fury’s father was still not convinced of his son’s abilities. Taking note of ‘The Gypsy King’s ‘ massive weight drop, his father did not want him to go against ‘The Bronze Bomber.’

“I said if you do that I won’t speak to you for as long as I live because you will get hurt; you’ve just lost ten stone in as many months, you’re not really fit at all.”

“He said, ‘Dad, I’m a fighting man, if I get beat I get beat. I’m going to do what Joshua is afraid to do and step in the ring. If he beats me, he beats me, the best man will win.”

However, not everyone knew what Tyson Fury was preparing for. On the final day of battle, Fury shut all his critics in one of the best ways possible.

The Gypsy King claims his throne

When the pair met each other for the second time in February 2020, Fury knocked out Wilder. It was a one-sided affair, with Wilder being on the wrong side of a beat down. After mauling him for the first six rounds, Fury made the closing statement in the seventh.

He outclassed Wilder in their rematch to become the WBC heavyweight champion. The duo will fight again later this year.
