Kostas Tsimikas is the latest left-back to find himself linked with a potential move to Liverpool.
Olympiakos standout
Tsimikas, now 24, has been on Greek outfit Olympiacos’ books since 2014.
The full-back hasn’t always been a key figure for the Greek powerhouse and has instead enjoyed spells out on loan in Denmark and the Netherlands.
But the last two seasons have seen Tsimikas begin to shine for Olympiacos.
The three-time capped international managed to notch 28 appearances across all competitions in 2018/19, including nine in the Europa League.
And throughout 2019/20, Tsimikas was able to garner 46 appearances for Olympiacos, providing seven assists along the way and gaining a plethora of European experience in both the Champions League and Europa League.
Liverpool eyeing Tsimikas
Such exploits have seemingly caught the eye of a top Premier League side.
As per the Telegraph:
Greece left-back Kostas Tsimikas has emerged as an option for Liverpool in their attempts to find back up for Andy Robertson for the new season.
The Reds do not have any natural cover for the Scotsman with James Milner largely the man tasked with filling that void.
But this summer Liverpool seem determined to address their left-back issue.
Bournemouth’s Llyod Kelly, who can play at left-back or as a left-sided centre-back has been linked with a move to Anfield.
But in more recent weeks, Liverpool look to have turned their attentions to Norwich star, Jamal Lewis.
It was understood that Liverpool were willing to pay around £10m for Lewis, though the above-linked report from the Telegraph claims that bid was rejected.
The Telegraph went on to claim Lewis was still the Premier League champion’s No.1 target, with Tsimikas an alternative if Liverpool fail to land the Norwich man.
However, it has since been claimed by The Athletic’s James Pearce that Liverpool are now in advanced talks to sign Tsimikas for around €13m after failing to land Lewis.
