Megan Anderson Opens Up on “Crazy Week” to Book a Fight

Megan Anderson will be aiming for a major upset when she sets foot against the Women’s featherweight champion, Amanda Nunes, in the reported headliner at UFC 256.

‘The Lioness’ has been undefeated since her loss against Cat Zingano in 2014. However, Anderson has an enormous opportunity to break the odds soon. ESPN’s Brett Okamoto revealed the news and thrilled the entire MMA universe.

That said, Anderson finally opened up on how she actually bagged the title shot.

Megan Anderson has a feeling of “Lets Go”

Anderson, riding a two-fight win streak, has gone through a critical week as she notched her first title shot in UFC.

In an interaction with Sports Center, the 30-year-old broke the buildup to the fight down. The Australian sensation was expecting to make 135 lbs. Instead, she was offered the 145 lbs title shot, and she immediately accepted it.

“It was kind of a crazy week because at the start of the week we were having conversations with Clint who is the head of the nutrition at the PI. If it was legitimately possible for me to make 135 pounds.

“So it kind of went from ‘can we make 135 lbs’ to refining for the title at the end of the week, so it was a crazy five days but for us, on Wednesday we got a call saying maybe Amanda in December,” said Anderson.

No wonder Anderson received a green signal from her coach. However, she received the official validation only after two days.

Speaking about it, Anderson continued, “On Friday at 3:15 pm I was in a meeting and I got a call and I was like hang on a second I need to take this and he is like yep, Amanda is in. “

As per several reports,  Megan Anderson will put a quell to her recent UFC contract with the upcoming title fight against Nunes. If managed to dethrone the Brazilian, she can very well renew her contract with Dana White.

Nunes vs Anderson

Two-division champion Amanda Nunes created history when she defended her 145 lbs strap against Felicia Spencer at UFC 250. The Brazilian has now successfully defended both her titles. No wonder she will be the favorite against Anderson.

Meanwhile, the Australian has had a journey of ups and downs in the UFC. Anderson (3-2) in UFC is a veteran of the sport. She has all the chances of winning the title. However. Nunes will be an extremely tough call for her.
