Dallas Mavericks have had a season of over-achieving. They weren’t even projected to make the playoffs in many books. However, they rose this year behind the play of Luka Doncic. Doncic entered the MVP conversation in just his second season in the league. Along with that, his play has transitioned well into the playoff level.

However, game three was a forgettable affair for the young guard. He had a horrible shooting night, got a technical foul, and then injured his ankle seriously. He tried returning to the game but had to leave for good after the pain got too much.

Luka was in visible pain and tried to play it strong. However, a mother is never fooled by this. His mother, Mirjam Porterbin put up a story on her Instagram sending love to her son after his injury inside the bubble.

Dallas Mavericks to miss Luka Doncic in game four?

Considering Luka felt strong enough to return to the game must have been a good sign for concerned Mavs fans. However, him leaving the game in agony definitely undid the earlier moment of relief. He is just 21-years old and fans wouldn’t want him risking his health like this in his early career.

While we must respect Doncic for carrying himself back into the game, we must recognize that he will be expected to miss the next game against the Clippers. He is the lead offense initiator for this Mavs team, and his presence will be sorely missed. However, the ascendant play of Trey Burke and Seth Curry should allay the team’s woes a little. The form Kristaps Porzingis has been on is also a positive sign for the team.

Despite all of this, it is no secret that the Mavs would rather have their young superstar to help out more this series. but the team has a very bright future ahead of itself, with both their star players under the age of 25 and tied up to contracts for the foreseeable future. however, this playoff series may not go too many games if Doncic is unavailable to set the tempo for the Mavs.
