IPL 2020 : Delhi Capitals Ashwin says, “pain settled down and scans encouraging”

Delhi Capitals and their fans can breath a sigh of relief as star off-spinner Ravichandran Ashwin have come up with a positive update on his shoulder injury which he suffered during his team’s match against KXIP on Sunday.

Ashwin was breathing fire and had already taken 2 wickets in his very first over when he dived to save a single and in the process injured his shoulder.

R Ashwin walked off in visible discomfort and had his hand placed in a sling even as speculations of a shoulder dislocation was rife. Ashwin did not take any further part in the match which ended with Delhi Capitals winning a dramatic Super Over to begin their campaign in the UAE with 2 points.

But putting a full stop all the speculations, the Chennai-born tweaker on Monday took to Twitter to inform his fans and well wishers that his pain has “settled” and the scan reports were “encouraging” too.

“I was in pain as I left the field last night, but the pain has settled down and the scan reports are pretty encouraging too. Thanks for all your love and support,” Ashwin tweeted.

Ashwin was recruited by Delhi Capitals in the December 2019 auction from Kings XI Punjab, where he was a captain in the last season. He was given a preference over veteran DC spinner Amit Mishara in the match.

DC went on to win a thriller on Sunday after enforcing a super over and bundling out KXIP for just 2 runs in it.
