In Sporting Kansas City's final game in Nippert Stadium, Roger Espinzoa delivered the team's game-winning goal in the 57th minute, finishing off a move by Alan Pulido. Siem de Jong missed an opportunity for the equalizer in the 63rd minute when his penalty kick hit the post as FC Cincinnati fell to Sporting KC, 1-0. FC Cincinnati also was eliminated from postseason contention in the drop.
