CM Punk takes a dig at WWE after Renee Young’s Exit

SummerSlam 2020 was a mix of emotions and a turning point for the fan experience in WWE. One of the saddest moments of the night was when Renee Young confirmed that SummerSlam would be her final appearance in WWE. While many of her colleagues wished her the best of luck, CM Punk congratulated her in his own way.

In a recent post on Twitter, the former WWE Champion took yet another shot at WWE by referencing the company in his Renee Young appreciation post on Twitter.

As You can see, Punk makes a reference to the iconic movie “Th Shawshank Redemption”. In the movie, the character elapses prison by swimming though an entire mile of sewage!

CM Punk categorises WWE as the sewage here and Renee Young as the character. Clearly he still harbours some kind of hate towards WWE.

After 8 long and successful years at the company, Renee Young announced her departure from WWE. Starting as a cooler commentator, Young began appearing in many backstage interview and later even got her own show- “Backstage”.

She also played the role of the co-host in “Talking Smack”, which will continue on as her legacy.

Renee Young’s future is still in question as we have received no word from her yet on her next move. It is rumoured that she will be moving to AEW to join her husband Jon Moxley.

CM Punk did not leave WWE in good terms

CM Punk’s main root of bitterness towards WWE arises from the way the company treated him. Punk was arguably the biggest one man show since “Stone Cold” Steve Austin and wanted bigger opportunities.

The crowd loved him, and he was the main main for WWE, much like Austin. However, constant main event losses to other major Superstars such as Randy Orton, The Undertaker, and Brock Lesnar saw Punk become the big loser in storylines.

Frustrated by the way WWE was wasting his prime, CM Punk decided to leave WWE and pursue a career in MMA while he still could.

6 years after his departure, “The Best in the World” is still one of the most respected Superstars in the WWE Universe. Fans are still waiting for the day the prodigal son returns home. Sadly, that may never happen.

Even though he may not be able to entertain us form the ring anymore, CM Punk always manages to rile up the attention form social media by occasionally taking shots at WWE. There really is no one like CM Punk when it comes to promos.
