Dustin Poirier Drops a Massive Hint on His UFC Return

Dustin Poirier has had just one fight in the UFC this year. The former interim lightweight champion is looking to return to the Octagon before the end of this year. Even the fans are eagerly waiting for him to return to action. For all such fans, Poirier may have just given us an idea as to when can we see him back in action.

‘The Diamond’ took to Twitter and posted what looked like a post-workout image. In the caption, he hinted that he may be just two months away from a return to the Octagon.

Poirier was last seen in action against fellow top contender Dan Hooker. The Lafayette, Louisiana native defeated Hooker in a five-round war earlier this year in June. The win helped him bounce back after his loss in the failed bid to capture the lightweight gold against Khabib Nurmagomedov.

It also showed that Poirier is still at the top of his game. Moreover, it seems that the experience of going against one of the most dominant forces inside the Octagon has helped him evolve as a fighter. Another similar win over his next opponent can help him punch his way back into title contention.

Tony Ferguson will most probably be the next challenge for Dustin Poirier

Following UFC on ESPN 15 last weekend, Dana White almost confirmed that Dustin Poirier will meet Tony Ferguson later this year. He said that the promotion has booked Ferguson for his next fight. However, he wasn’t willing to reveal any further details.

A former interim champ himself, Tony Ferguson last stepped foot inside the Octagon at UFC 249. He lost the fight to Justin Gaethje who was stepping in as a replacement for lightweight kingpin Khabib Nurmagomedov. The loss snapped a twelve fight win streak for ‘El Cucuy’.

The 36-year old has been teasing a return to action via his social media. The fight between Poirier promises to be full of action as both the fighters love to come forward and engage with their opponent. By all means, it is a potential ‘Fight of the Year’ candidate.
