'Confused' Sharks coach tees off on refs

Just a day after Ivan Cleary teed of on NRL referees, Cronulla coach John Morris took aim at whistleblower Ben Cummins for a couple of mistakes which led to Parramatta's match-winning penalty against his side.

The Sharks went down 14-12 to the Eels in a monsoonal conditions and tried hard enough to make their coach proud but that didn't stop Morris fuming during the post-match press conference.

Morris said Cummins missed crucial a knock on from Blake Ferguson as Parramatta were on their own line with the score level at 12-all in the 67th minute.

"It can't go back. Blake is running onto the ball, touches the ball. That's a knock on," Morris said.

"We got done for one a bit earlier like that with Jesse Ramien. That's a knock on. Under 7's watching that game of football know that's a knock on. It was clearly a knock on.

"Then Brown picks it up, makes a half break and then we go down there for that scrum."

That scrum he refers to saw the Eels win one against the feed after Parramatta's Junior Paulo called for a push and the Eels came up with possession.

A minute later, the Eels were awarded a penalty and they took the two points to break the deadlock.

"I'm not quite sure what that scrum was but it looked pretty ugly to me. I've seen a lot of those throughout the year get called back. No, you can't push, yes, you can push," Morris said.

"What are the rules around scrums these days? Are we allowed to push like that? Good play Parramatta.

"If you're allowed to push and it's play on, I'm happy for it and I'm happy for that to be a big play in the game.

"But other times, you push in scrums and you have to come back and repack because you're not supposed to push. I'm a bit confused."
