Promoter Frank Warren believes Daniel Dubois is ready for a title shot. Coming off a win over Ricardo Snijders, Dubois is likely to face a step-up in the challenge in his next fight. However, the challenge could bring with itself the opportunity to fight for the belt.
Anthony Joshua currently holds the WBO, IBF, IBO, and WBA heavyweight titles. Oleksandr Usyk is the mandatory challenger for AJ’s WBO belt. However, Joshua is currently eyeing a much bigger fight against Tyson Fury. Therefore, it is possible that he decides to let go of the WBO belt.
In such a scenario, the mandatory challenger will fight the next ranked contender, which in this case is Dubois.
While Usyk will be a big challenge for Dubois, Warren thinks he is ready for even bigger tasks. He doesn’t mind imagining a fight between the winner of Fury vs Joshua and the 22-year old.
“That’s what we’ve been working. It’s always been our plan. That’s what I’ve been saying from the beginning. Hopefully, we get Tyson in with AJ and the winner will have to fight him. Or if AJ vacates the WBO title, Daniel will fight Usyk for the vacant title,” Frank Warren told BT Sport Boxing.

The road ahead for Dubois is full of ifs and buts. For starters, Joshua will defend his IBF title against Kubrat Pulev sometimes later this year. Usyk will possibly fight Dereck Chisora before the year draws to a close. Moreover, Tyson Fury has his scheduled trilogy against Deontay Wilder, which may get postponed to 2021.
For Dubois to land a big fight, all the other contests have to plan out exactly as he wants them to. However, just in case Joshua needs an opponent, Warren always has a fight ready for him.
“They’ve sparred before and Daniel held his own. I’ve said before, I’d make that fight tomorrow,” Warren said about Joshua vs Dubois in an interview with IFL TV.

Currently, Dubois has his next fight lined up against Joe Joyce. The fight was expected to take place on October 24. However, Frank Warren, who manages both the fighters, has told the media that a delay is possible.
